I was so excited last year when animal prints came back in style, and I’m so happy that they are still going strong. I recently came across this gorgeous silk animal print top from Blumarine and decided to wear it while out for dinner. I know leopard prints are everywhere now (and I love them so much!), but this top has sort of a reptile print. The restaurant was actually overlooking the city, so I took advantage of the sun setting and snapped some quick photos before going in.
I wanted to create a day-to-night look; not too elegant, but not too casual either. I know when I wear an animal print dress, it’s pretty much the center of attention and not much else is needed to achieve that chic look. But what about the separates? Here are three styling tips for animal print tops that can help you achieve that effortless look:
- Create your whole outfit around this piece and keep it simple. Black pairs perfectly with these types of prints, so aim for a black skirt or pants, or cutoffs for a casual summer look.
- Keep the jewelry/accessories minimal. You don’t want to have too much going on since these are usually busy prints already. I prefer to stay away from necklaces, and wear a simple pair of earrings (here I wore some that complemented the emerald shades of the top).
- The bag – and/or shoes – should be either neutral color, or if it has a print, it should complement the color palette of your top. I got a bit creative and styled my top with this cute bucket bag that has a hint of boho, but it’s also elegant because of the sequins. Your call… get creative! 🙂
